A Little About Myself

Me

Around 1994, I began having problems with pain in my joints, swallowing difficulties and weakness.  I progressed to a point where my muscles were so weak that I could not rise from a chair without assistance or go up one flight of stairs without resting half-way up.  After several misdiagnoses, I went to Mayo Clinic in 1995 and was diagnosed with mixed connective tissue disease (lupus, polymyositis, scleroderma and rheumatoid arthritis). I have been a Christian since I was 13 years old, but I had not really grown in a deep relationship with God.  But through my illness, God and I have had quite a journey, both physically and emotionally, and I have learned so much! On this site, I will be sharing what God has taught me in an effort to help and encourage others to become victorious despite their circumstances and grow to be healthy spiritually.

  1. Hello Julie,
Thank you for your positive inspiration. I found your blog on rest ministries. I am currently going through a process of trying to find out what is causing my joint pain, itchy skin, stomach dis-ease, shortness of breath, etc. Been to many doctors and lots of tests over the last year and a half. No definitive answers. So, I am trying to be as healthy as I can be but always feeling like I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. I had considered going to John Hopkins to consult but my doctors here in NY think that is a waste of time and money because they have taken numerous test themselves and are not finding anything specific. They believe I have to wait until it becomes a specific disease before they would know how to treat it. Sorry to unload this all on you, but sometimes I am so fearful of the future that it paralyzes me.
Anyway, thank you for all of your thoughts both here and on rest ministries, I don’t know what I would do with out these sites. I thank God for them.
    Blessings,
    Donna

    • Donna, I’m so sorry you are going through this terribly tough time. I have been in that very same situation. I hope my site can be of help to you. Try to look at everything with spiritual eyes and see what God has in mind, and ask Jesus, the Prince of Peace for His peace. God’s blessings to you.

  2. Julie, I have just “found” your site within the past two weeks or so and already the Lord has used it to encourage me in so many different ways. I love the way that you write straight from your heart with simplicity and ease of reading and you make it REAL. Thank you for allowing the Lord to use you to help others … like myself. I’m so very thankful that the Lord allowed me to “find” you!! God Bless You as you continue to serve Him and be an encouragement to others who are suffering with illness or hurt or whatever the pain might be.
