Many of us know the verse from Isaiah 6:8 which says, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” If you really think about this verse, you will realize that God is not specifically asking Isaiah to do the work. However, Isaiah was in close enough communion with God to hear Him asking the question, and he was ready to take on the task. God is not going to come to you pleading with you to serve Him and do what you can for Him. He calls everyone who is a Christian to do some kind of service. But not everyone answers the call.
God gave you a special gift to use for Him, whether sick or well. Have you tried to figure out what it is that He has given you that you could turn into something that would benefit Him? There are so many opportunities around you. God even wants the little things we can do, like calling someone who could use some spiritual encouragement, or a testimony to the world on how God is working in your life through illness.
My dad is basically house-bound, but that doesn’t stop him from doing what he can for God. On a daily basis he serves God through the phone, encouraging others and spiritually helping many people who need it. Perhaps you could be that person.
Whatever God is telling your heart that you can do for Him, be the one who says, “Here am I; send me!”
