He Masquerades As An Angel Of Light (Knowing The Enemy Part 5)

2 Corinthians 11:14-15 states, “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.”

Satan wants to counterfeit everything good that God does.  The enemy wants to replace God in your life, and even though something may appear good, be careful that it does not pull you away from God.  If it does, consider the source.

When you are ill or in chronic pain, one of your main concerns is relief.  I am a firm believer that God gave us medicine to help us.  Let me illustrate it this way:  There is a story that I have heard about a man whose city was being flooded.  As the waters rose, he sat on his porch while friends and neighbors offered to take him to safety.  He insisted, “No, the Lord is going to save me.”  The waters reached the second floor, and a boat went by and offered to rescue him from his house.  He again claimed, “No, the Lord is going to save me.”  Finally the water reached the roof of his house, and rescuers on a helicopter tried to get him to come off the roof to safety.  Still the man told them, “No, the Lord is going to save me.”  Finally the waters covered the roof, and the man died.  When he got to Heaven, he said to the Lord, “I waited and waited for you to save me, but you didn’t.”  God told the man that He did send friends, a boat and a helicopter!  Case in point, God gives us things on this earth to help us.  But Satan can even use those good things to draw us away from God.

When you are feeling miserable, the natural instinct is to fill yourself with something that gives you pleasure to make yourself feel better.  This is a hard truth, but needs to be addressed:  Misuse of pain medications, excessive food or even using alcohol for our comfort can actually enslave us, put us into a pit that is hard to get out of and make us more miserable than we were.  We have to be acutely aware of tricks the enemy might use to get us within his grasp.  He can and will use things that are meant for good, appearing as an angel of light, to put us into bondage to himself.  There are many people who have fallen because of this subtle trick.
